In the heart of picturesque village Glossa on Skopelos island, Agnanti, a restaurant with a long history underwent major renovation. Redesigning and unifying the exterior areas of this family restaurant with its strong tradition and loyal clientele was a challenge. The aim for the architects was to create an elegant yet low profile ambience, that would enhance rather than force itself on the intriguing natural environment.

The various heterogeneouselements, such as pergolas, staircases, balustrades, planters where removed. The different floor tilings were covered with a special grey cement mortar, that unified the 3 terraces, which are shaded by new white wooden pergolas with long spans. White and grey shades were selected purposefully for the architectural interventions, in order to create a subtle and relaxing atmosphere, letting the bright blue of the sea and the intense green of the slopes prevail.

Skopelos Restaurant

The renovation and extension of this island restaurant intends to bring in a fresh look, while maintaining its originality and connection with its history. Earth tones are selected for the existing areas, while the use of a more industrial material such as rusted metal is selected for in the new space. The use of bamboo on the false ceilings and along walls is combined with cement mortar floors and white wooden pergolas.
